Ways To Have More Fun On Instagram

Don't you just miss the days when it didn't really matter how many likes, views or comments one got on their Instagram posts? When there were no "hacks" to cracking algorithms in order to make it to the top of the suggested content? I do.

I've had Instagram for about 5 years now if not longer, and to be honest I've never really shared much of personal stuff on it - I've always been a person who keeps to herself (blogging has sort of helped me come out of my comfort zone). I use Intagram to keep memories that are dear to me. I also use it for my music (because I'm a recording artist) and other things. I also post photos of me :)

No one has to do how I do, if you're comfortable sharing other things that's completely okay. I'm just here to share great ways which you can have more fun using Instagram instead of worrying about it:

Forget The Likes/Comments
I totally get it. They're one of the reasons we're there - basically a good response. But if you focus on that, you'll beat yourself up when you don't get the amount of likes or comments you wish to get. The danger of this is you may start measuring your worth or success through engagement. That's not how it's supposed to be. Remember, just because people aren't engaging on your stuff doesn't mean they aren't seeing it, although it'd be nice if they did engage. Also, you can always remove followers and unfollow accounts that makes you feel any type of way that isn't good. Better yet, turn off the like count and go on about your business.

Do You
Irs important to remember to post the things that you actually to share and not the things you feel like you're obligated to. I understand the need to be at the top of the suggested posts and trends, but what good does it do when you lose yourself because of content? Rather find a way to be creative in what you want to put out there and not what you're "forced" to share.

Do Everything
Instagram has reels now, use them. I have found that I wouldn't be comfortable lip syncing and doing faces for reels, so, I post reels about other things like behind the scenes content. Share stuff on your stories too.

Might I also add that it's really great to be back after taking some time away from blogging. What are your thoughts on these ideas? What are some things you like to do to ensure you enjoy your time on Instagram? Please share in the comments.

    1. That's completely okay. Forcing a social media platform on yourself isn't a good idea anyway 😊

  3. I'm not loving IG right now and tbh I've kinda stopped using it. I'm not into creating Reels or video content at all so it just makes me sad that that's all that's pushed these days. It's awful that IG is almost pushing people in front of a camera or to create video content when there might be reasons as to why they can't and photos are more convenient for them. Forgetting the likes / comments is hard as well but turning off the like count is a great thing to do x

    1. IG pushing video content will always be a turn I didn't see coming. I mean, it's great if you're into it, but as you've mentioned it's kinda pushing people in front of thr camera and not everyone is into that. Definitely turn that like count off x

  4. Having fun is important. You don’t want to feel like using the platform is a chore. I have recently changed how I post, what I post and how I engage and it seems to be helping. But I find it is the hardest platform to run. Thank you for sharing your post.

  8. I recently started consistently showing up in my IG reels. I always thought I would look silly lip syncing (and I do!), but I’m having fun with it. When it stops being fun, I won’t do it anymore.

  11. What a great post! I’m not of fan of the way that instagram keeps changing including the use of reels etc. I love the aesthetics of a still photo versus the lip-synching etc that comes with reels. If I’m honest, I just pass reels by on my feed. This is my opinion though and I recognize a lot of people enjoy the reels.
