Welcome to another blog post from me. I thought October was moving slow until I looked at the date today. Halloween is coming by fast! I mentioned that we don't celebrate Halloween where I'm from, but I can imagine how exciting it must be for everyone who does. On that note, I look forward to seeing your outfits! Today I want to talk about some of the easiest and effective rules of beauty.
I've had my fair share of 'Oops' moments when it comes to the the beauty rules. I've done so many things wrong before in that category. After some observation, learning and putting some of these rules to the test, I think it's time to share 5 of the easy rules I apply when it comes to beauty:1. Read Product Instructions
To avoid regret and making avoidable and possible costly mistakes, I read the instructions I find on all products I get. You need to know what to apply first and why. There's a reason why a primer is applied before the foundation, and why we tone before putting on cream.
2. Wash Your Face Before Bed
Like a person breathes, our skin needs to breathe. Even when a makeup product (mostly foundation) states that it is lightweight, it still carries some weight and can clog the pores. Clogged pores prevent the face from breathing well on its own and can end up causing your skin to break out. For me makeup can feel so heavy on my face after a few hours even when it's lightweight, is it just me?
Whether I go out at night and come back in the morning, tired or not, I rid of the makeup. I feel like this is the most spoken about rule.
3. Put On Some Sunscreen
Growing up I didnt know much about sunscreen honestly. I knew it existed and it was to protect the skin from the UV rays but I never took it as a serious thing to own. For years I didn't bother to buy myself one. I've know for a long time what the sun can do so I tried to keep away from it when I could but I know it wasn't good enough. The sun can cause some problems to the skin including some rash.
Now I know not to look down on the importance of sunscreen, especially the SP50 sunscreen. Anything less is okay but I prefer SP50. I like the sunscreen I can apply anywhere on my body. As costly as sunscreen is, I feel like it's worth having.
4. Do Not Pick At Pimples
In the past my skin broke out a lot, I hated it, but I loved myself with all the imperfections. I think I hated the scars more but I couldn't stop myself from picking at the pimples. My skin still breaks out, but a lot less now and I barely take a pick - it helps!
In my opinion, taking care of the pimples is way less stressful than taking care of the scars. Scars may take their time to disappear, especially old ones. I still have some scars that haven't went away yet. It's work in progress.
I should also add that it helps to avoid touching your skin even if it's not to pick at pimples. I feel like we're constantly doing things with your hands that don't need to get to our faces, those things may bring unnecessary skin problems. Being mindful about what you're doing to your face is good.
5. Eat Well
I can't bring myself to follow any type of diet. If you're doing it for health reasons, please keep at it and take good care of yourself. If you are a person who goes on a diet for other reasons I don't mean to take that away from you and if it works for you then great. I believe I should be able eat pizza, chips (fries), banana, cucumber, burger, tomato an other things I like.
Going on a diet can be a little stressful thinking about all the things you'll be missing out on and stress isn't good for the skin anyway. I believe in eating anything I like as long as I eat well because I understand that too much of anything is bad.
If you want to eat less sugar or less oily food, you can; but I think it's unnecessary to put yourself under the pressure of a diet when you can simply eat well.
Thank you for reading up to this far. Was this post helpful to you? Please let me know in the comments about any of your beauty rules.
Great tips! I have to work better on taking care of skin health so these are helpful to me. Thank you for sharing.

DeleteI hate the pimples, but I don't have them anymore. I'm happy they stop getting on my face. Great rules!
ReplyDeletePimples can be annoying. But one has to love their skin regardless and take good care of it :)
DeleteGreat beauty tips! I always make sure I cleanse my face morning and night although I don't always wear sunscreen and probably should! Great post. Thanks for sharing. Jade MumLifeAndMe
ReplyDeleteWashing your face at morning and night is good. The grease and germs the skin get in contact with and carry throughout the day with all the busyness can be quite much.
DeleteThese are all lovely tips. I'd like to think I'm quite good with most of them, however the spot thing, I'm rubbish at. I luckily don't get them too often, but when I do, I just can't resist. Haha! I think you're right though, managing the scars is way more difficult than the actual spots themselves.

It's hard to resist picking on pimples for sure. But it's a good thing to do. Something to work on π
DeleteI love your tips and I'm glad that all of these are in my skincare routine. I always make sure to wear sunscreen whenever I'm going outside :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that x
DeleteNot picking at spots is something I need to work on!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've not really thought of washing my face before bed - I feel like I've sinned! I always just wash my face once I've washed, eek!

Spots are hard not to pick at. I think it's interesting - washing your face once a day. Just curious if it stays okay even so.
DeleteIt's always important to read the instructions before applying skincare, as you say, it's important to know when you need to apply a skincare product in your routine! x

Absolutely. The instructions are there for a reason π€
DeleteFab tips! I think picking at spots was definitely something I struggled with when I was younger but I'm better now. Totally agree with the suncream one - it's so incredibly important. Thank you so much for sharing x
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know you don't pick at them much anymore. Sunscreen is super important x
DeleteThese are great tips. Especially the diet one. What I eat really impacts my skin and how lethargic I feel.
ReplyDeleteI wish certain foods didn't affect the skin, haha π
DeleteI have to make sure I wash my face before bed; I'm really bad at remembering this and it always sets me back with caring for my skin. Thanks for all these other reminders too.
ReplyDeleteSetting an alarm in the evenings to wash the face can be a thing that helps. I'm happy you stopped by :)
DeleteI am pretty good at those things but the popping a spot. I sometimes don’t leave them alone but I am trying harder. Thank you for sharing these simple rules.
ReplyDeleteLauren - bournemouthgirl
I had to learn to not pop the spots. It takes some practice, LOL! Thanks for dropping by! π
DeleteThese are excellent rules to follow. I follow them all more or less and somehow still got an eye infection ugh. Though not from makeup I have not worn it in almost a month.
